Sydney Buckley is a Seattle native, and an alumnus of the University of Washington, where she earned a B.A. in English and dance. Following graduation, she performed with the nationally acclaimed 5th Avenue Theater. There, she worked closely with choreographers Joshua Bergasse, Kerry Casserly, and Angelique Ilo, as well as directors Scott Schwartz and David Bennett. Her performance credits include the 5th Avenue World-Premiere production of Secondhand Lions and A Chorus Line.
Having always dreamed of working for the mouse, Sydney then moved to Los Angeles, where she "earned her ears" as a cast member at the Disneyland Resort. She performed daily in Disney California Adventure's "Pixar Play Parade," and was later honored to be chosen as part of the original cast of Disneyland's 60th Anniversary nighttime spectacular, "Disney's Paint the Night Parade."
Growing up, Sydney danced, competed, and later, taught and coached competitive teams at her mother's dance studio. Throughout her training, she earned numerous choreography awards and competition titles, including Dupree Dance All Star, which she was awarded in 2011.
Sydney now resides in Seattle, where she is working as a freelance teacher and choreographer as she and her husband Joseph anticipate the birth of their first child (a daughter!). She feels truly blessed to be able to dance and share that gift across the country, and acknowledges that the love and support of her husband, family, and Kari and Zack Anderson make it possible. Sydney is delighted to be joining the incredible faculty at Dupree Dance.
